DAADA CELEBRATES HER MULTICULTURAL HERITAGE WITH NEW EP ‘HOME’

Multicultural sensation Daada released her sophomore EP Home via her imprint Daada Music on June 21st. Home features collaborations with the likes of Sauti Sol, and was mostly produced in Nairobi, Kenya. The EP is an ode to Daada’s diverse and vibrant heritage. The German-Colombian artist who grew up in Tanzania performed at Sofar Sounds (Germany and Netherlands), and the Reeperbahn Festival, as well as Berlin’s Karneval der Kulturen main stage. 

The first two singles from the EP received editorial support from Spotify and Boomplay, praise from CLASH Magazine as well as radio play on Amazing Radio’s Charlie Ashcroft and Reprezent 107.3FM. Daada’s sound can be aptly described as a distinct blend between Africa and Latin America, as she expertly blends elements from both regions. She also recently went viral on TikTok and Instagram in Kenya, garnering over 500K views on just two videos of her singing. 

Home is a stunning EP which gives the listener a glimpse into Daada’s vibrant, playful and heartwarming world. Daada has put her heart and soul into this EP and it shows. In the focus track ‘Raise The Roof’, she tells the thrilling story of how opposites attract, and uses English and Spanish to bring ‘Raise The Roof’ to life. Home is overflowing with love, passion and fun. It’s filled with music you can dance to, while Daada’s warm, velvety vocals celebrates loved ones, identity, transnationalism, multiculturalism and more. 

Daada added: “‘Home’ is my first truly cohesive body of work. It’s about finding a sense of belonging in diversity and in blurring the lines between categories and labels. It fuses four languages and sounds from Africa and Latin America. I drew a lot of inspiration from growing up multilingual with three “nationalities”, not quite feeling adequately whole anywhere. This EP stands for home being something fluid and it’s a big fat celebration of being colorful and true to who you are.”
